A practical course for high school students who feel overwhelmed by career decisions,  and the parents trying to support them.

The process is less straightforward than 

everyone realizes.

It can feel like everyone else already has a plan. Some students seem completely certain about what they want to do after high school. Meanwhile, your teen might feel stuck, unsure or overwhelmed.

Or like they’re somehow already falling behind. 


That pressure gets to parents too. 


You’ve probably searched online, talked things through a hundred times, and tried your best to help, only to end up with more conflicting advice and more stress than clarity. Here’s the part most people don’t say out loud: 

Very few people have their careers fully figured out at 16. Plenty of adults don’t either. 


The problem isn't that students are "behind." It’s that they’ve never been taught how to explore careers in a realistic, thoughtful way. That’s what this course is designed to help with. 


Not Lost Yet gives students practical tools to better understand themselves, explore possibilities, and make decisions with less pressure and more confidence, without pretending they need to map out the rest of their lives right now. 


By the end of this mini-course, you'll have gone from "not lost yet!" to "Ohhh, I see. Getting lost is impossible!"

What's Inside the Course

Module 1: 

Career Mindset

 We’ll unpack some of the biggest myths around careers, success, and “having it all figured out,” while introducing a healthier and more realistic way to think about the future.


Topics include:

  • Career myths and mindset shift
  • How careers actually develop over time
  • Values and decision-making
  • Why uncertainty is more normal than you think

Module 2:
Career Exploration

This module helps students start identifying patterns in who they are, what matters to them, and the kinds of environments where they’re most likely to thrive.


Topics include:

  • Values exercises 
  • Workplace attractors 
  • VIA Character Strengths 
  • MBTI 
  • Holland Codes

You’ll also learn how to look for themes across multiple assessments instead of treating any one result like a final answer.

Module 3:
Career Research

Once students better understand themselves, the next step is learning how to explore career options in the real world.


Topics include:

  • Labour market research
  • LinkedIn and social media for career exploration
  • Informational interviews
  • How to evaluate career information online

These are lifelong career skills that many students are never formally taught, but they make a huge difference.

About Your Facilitator

Hi, I'm Devon! 


I am a giant career nerd. I could talk ALL DAY about careers, education pathways, professional development, job search, networking, you name it. I am a Career Advisor, a Certified Career Development Professional and a member of the Career Development Association of PEI. I’ve been working with teens and their families for nearly 20 years, helping them figure out what’s next after high school without losing their minds (or wasting money). 


I called this mini-course "Not Lost Yet" to convey the idea that you still have hope no matter where you are. But what I really want you to recognize by the end of it is that you can't get lost, ever. You can get stuck, and you can be unsure about what to do next, but this course will give you the tools to help you build an unbreakable GPS for your career journey.

  • Who is this program for?
    This program is ideal for Grade 11 and 12 students who aren't sure what they want to do after high school. It's especially helpful for students who feel overwhelmed by all the options or who took a high school careers course and still don't feel any closer to an answer.
  • Will this tell my teen what career they're meant to have?
    No, and that's by design. Instead of trying to match students with one "perfect" career, this course gives them practical tools to evaluate options, understand themselves better, and make confident decisions throughout life.
  • What if my teen has no idea what they want to do?
    That's exactly who this course was created for. Your teen doesn't need a dream job or a detailed plan—they just need a willingness to explore.
  • How is this different from the careers course offered at school?
    School career education often has limited time to cover a very broad topic. This course allows students to slow down, reflect, and work through a structured process at their own pace using tools they can return to long after graduation.
  • Will my teen finish this course knowing exactly what they want to do?
    Some students will leave with a clear direction. Others will leave with a much shorter list of possibilities and a clear plan for what to explore next. Both options are excellent progress!
  • How long does this course take?
    Most students can complete it over a day or a weekend, although they are welcome to work through it at their own pace. Enrolled students will receive lifetime access!
  • Can parents do the course too?
    Parents are welcome to explore the material, but the activities are designed for students. The biggest breakthroughs happen when students have the space to reflect and draw their own conclusions.
  • What if my teen feels like everyone else has their future figured out?
    They're not alone. Many students assume they're the only one who doesn't have a plan. In reality, uncertainty is far more common than it appears. This course is designed to replace that pressure with a practical process, helping students move from "I have no idea what I'm doing" to "I know how to figure this out."
